Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said in case there is no possibility to return illegal migrants outside the EU borders, they should be gathered in reception centres outside Europe.

Kurz spoke to the Austrian daily “Die Presse,” who asked him to comment on the migrant crisis which became a hot topic in the EU once again.

Considering that Austria is taking over the Presidency over the EU Council in July 2018, Kurz said that one of their priorities is to deal with the migrant issue during the six-month term.

“Those who wish to enter the EU illegally should be stopped at the border, their needs should be meet and then they should be turned back. If this is not possible, then we must form reception centres outside Europe,” Kurz said.

He stressed that this proposal is in line with the Geneva Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees.
