Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic congratulated the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his election victory. The Turkish general election was held Sunday with 87 percent turnout. Erdogan won 52 percent of the vote while his party, the AK Party won 53 percent of the vote or 344 seats in the Parliament.
“I believe we will continue to work together on the strengthening of our friendship in your new mandate, especially on the economic cooperation where we have an enormous potential for improvement, especially in the fields of trade, investment, tourism and energy,” Grabar Kitarovic said. “I would also like to stress our cooperation on the strengthening of security, stability and progress of the South-East Europe, with an emphasis on Bosnia and Herzegovina which I believe is of significant importance for the strengthening of the trilateral mechanism.”
Gragar-Kitarovic added the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Turkey are traditionally friendly countries cooperating on many fields of joint interest, bilaterally and within the NATO as well as many other forums.
