Bosnia’s Presidency member Dragan Covic met in Podgorica with Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic, with whom he discussed the good bilateral relations and the UN 2030 Agenda.
On this occasion, the two officials concluded that there is room for further improvement of bilateral relations and Djukanovic emphasized the unquestioned support of the Montenegrin side to Bosnia and its EU accession process.
The two also discussed the creation of preconditions for effective promotion and implementation of the goals of sustainable development of the UN 2030 Agenda, which Bosnia and Herzegovina assumed as an international obligation in 2015.
Based on Bosnian Presidency's decision, Covic familiarised Djukanovic with the intention of organizing a roundtable on sustainable development goals and their implementation with the presidents of neighboring countries (Republic of Croatia, Republic of Serbia and Montenegro), which are also signatories to the Agenda 2030, which will serve as an additional incentive for regional rapprochement and cooperation.
The UN 2030 Agenda is short for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which are a collection of 17 global goals set by the United Nations in 2015. The goals are broad and somewhat interdependent, yet each has a separate list of targets to achieve. They cover social and economic development issues including poverty, hunger, health, education, climate change, gender equality, water, sanitation, energy, urbanization, environment and social justice.
