Generators manufactured in Bosnia and Herzegovina are today used worldwide for construction of wind turbines. Elin Motors, a company based in the northern town of Zivinice annually produces some 400 parts and transports them to the parent company in Austria, which further distributes them to buyers.

The production is demanding and every final product consists of some 3,500 components, the company said. The process is fully domestic but the company’s export is oriented to the foreign markets.

Miran Omerdic, one of 150 employees, said he had to undergo a training in Austria and that the work requires full concentration and dedication.

The company produces generators of different power, up to 8.6 mW, which is the strongest power used today in the world for turning the wind power into electricity.

“We have buyers across the world, from America, Asia, to Australia. They all come several times a year to do a control of the manufacturing process in our firm, to assess the quality, see which standards we apply, and so on,” said Production Manager Eldin Suljkic.

The standards applied in the company, according to its management, are harmonized with the world standards. The materials they use in production are imported from abroad, while the mass production requires hand assembled identical products, they say.

“About 90 percent of this work depends solely on abilities and skills of the workers. Luckily, we can say our staff is skilful and ready to respond to demands. Depending on the type, the process of production lasts for up to two to three weeks,” explained the Quality Manager Aadnan Halilagic.

According to the management, no product the company created has been sold in Bosnia yet. Elin Motors is ready to come to the local market but, they add, the generators that meet the world standards are not wanted in the country.
