Will the first and only consequence of Vjerica Radeta’s offensive quote about the dead Head of the Mothers of Srebrenica Association be the sanctioning of Zorana Mihajlovic? The Serb Progressive Party reacted fiercely to her statement that, despite the condemnation, she does not expect Radeta’s dismissal from the post of Assembly Deputy Speaker.

The Serb Progressive Party’s (SNS) executive board chairman Darko Glisic announced that he would insist on party bodies to sanction Zorana Mihajlovic.

N1 failed to get a comment from Zorana Mihajlovic on this topic, and the SNS’ press service did not answer N1’s question whether the party leadership scheduled a session at which they would discuss Mihajlovic's statement and possible consequences.

SNS’ MP Vladimir Djukanovic, who had long been in open conflict with Mihajlovic, did not want to speak to N1, but earlier he stated on his video blog that her statement was ‘the last straw.’

“This could really be something that could expel her from the party, at least I hope so. Because this is outrageous. This is her self-promotion, her every statement gives support to the opposition. If so, then go to them, go wherever you want and then make such statements,” Djukanovic said at his Youtube account.

Political analyst Dragomir Andjelkovic recalled that earlier Zorana Mihajlovic also expressed her attitudes which were not welcome by everyone from the SNS.

“She used to have a certain manoeuvring space within the SNS and she was different from the party’s mainstream. She was acceptable for some opposition voters and those who were neutral, but this time she went too far,” Andjelkovic said. “Personally, I think there will be some sanctions against her and that she will suffer some negative consequences concerning her position within the party, but that she will not be expelled.”

Zorana Mihajlovic said on Tuesday that little is being done to sanction Radeta for insulting the deceased Hatidza Mehmedovic.

“We have wasted enough words talking about what the MP wrote. We have all judged her for it and were horrified by what was written, as well as confused about how someone can push aside our values. A lot of words, but very little deeds, meaningful deeds,” Mihajlovic said.
