The refusal of a Croatian band to replace him at a beer fest after Croatian war veterans allegedly objected his concert was “cool,” popular Serbian musician Momcilo Bajagic Bajaga said on Sunday.

Bajaga and his band were planned to perform at the Days of Beer in the Croatian city of Karlovac but rumors of complaints by Croatian war veterans forced organisers to invite the Croatian band Hladno pivo (Cold Beer) instead.

Hladno pivo, however, refused and said in a Facebook post that they “may come over for a beer” but that they will not be anybody’s replacement. They also marked their location as North Korea and linked Bajaga’s song “This is the Balkans.”

“The Hladno pivo guys are great. Kudos. Would it had been the other way, we would have done the same thing. Cool and collegial,” Bajaga told VICE.

Bajaga’s manager Gane Pecikoza said the concert in Karlovac was negotiated but never confirmed to there was nothing to cancel.

“In the past 10 years we have performed twice in Karlovac and there were no tensions. I don’t believe any war veterans complained, I think the organisers did not have enough money to bay Bajaga,” Pecikoza told Jutarnji list.
