Ex European handball champion club suspends all activities

Handball club Borac m:tel from Banja Luka, a former European handball champion, announced on Wednesday it is suspending all activities because of a lack of funds.

A Wednesday statement from the club said that apart from the financial difficulties, its teams were forced to organize training in one of the city’s parks, ‘which is unacceptable.’

The current management tried to decrease the inherited debt but it can no longer provide enough funds for the teams to continue preparing for competitions.

While struggling with money and training facilities, the club managed to win four national championships and four cups.

‘This is one more reason why we should be receiving much more support from all social actors than we do,’ the statement said.

‘This is why the club is ending all of its activities until further notice,’ it added.
