Bosnia and Herzegovina objects the construction of Croatia’s nuclear waste disposal facilities near the border, Bosnian delegation said at the 62nd General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.

The delegation consisting of representatives of Bosnia's Foreign Ministry and the State Regulatory Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (DRARNS) addressed the IAEA member states’ representatives as well as numerous officials from the UN and other international organisations expressing gratitude to the IAEA in their support, training and equipment provided to Bosnia.

Bosnian officials also stressed their gratitude for IAEA’s help in the field of medicine as well as veterinary laboratories in Sarajevo and Banjaluka.

However, they also expressed Bosnia’s objections to the construction of Croatia's nuclear waste disposal facilities near the very border between the two countries. They stated numerous dangers and the negative impact of such facilities on the immediate natural environment around them.

In conclusion, Bosnian delegation representatives expressed expectations that the overall cooperation between Bosnia and the IAEA will be continued and intensified to the mutual benefit.
