The US remains committed to a strong partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina and respects its sovereignty and territorial integrity, US State Secretary Mike Pompeo said in his congratulations to Bosnia on its Statehood Day on Sunday.

“On behalf of the American people and the United States government, I extend our best regards to the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina as you celebrate your Statehood Day,” the statement said.

Pompeo said that the US will remain dedicated to cooperate with Bosnia’s Government once it is formed, following the October election in the country, in implementing “reforms necessary for Bosnia and Herzegovina to advance its goals of Western integration.”

“We wish you the best as you celebrate this important day and look forward to further strengthening the friendship between our two nations,” the statement said.

The US Embassy in Sarajevo also congratulated Bosnia’s Statehood Day earlier on Sunday, echoing Pompeo’s messages.
