Bosnian social-democrats strongly condemned Croatia's meddling with internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, calling it “aggressive,” according to a statement the Social Democratic Party (SDP) issued on Saturday.
The statement came a day after the Parliament of Croatia adopted a declaration on the status of ethnic Croats in Bosnia, which urges Bosnian authorities to amend its Election Law so that the Croats in that country achieve equal rights.
SDP called on the Republic of Croatia to enter dialogue with Bosnia on open issues on equal grounds while respecting the sovereignty and international subjectivity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As one of the signatories of the Dayton Peace Agreement, a document which ended the 1992-95 war in Bosnia and established the country's complex power-sharing system in the country, is obliged to respect Bosnia's full sovereignty, SDP said.
SDP's response was the latest in the series of reactions that the Croatian Parliament's move triggered in Bosnia.
“We demand from the Presidency and the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to react to this move of the Parliament of Croatia without any delay and to inform all signatories of the Dayton Peace Agreement about its violation,” said the leading civic-oriented party in the country.
