The declaration adopted in the Parliament of Croatia on Friday is actually a declaration of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) to its sister party in Bosnia and Herzegovina, HDZ BiH, said a senior official of the left-oriented Democratic Front (DF) Milan Dunovic.

“Of 151 representatives in the Parliament, only 81 voted for the continuation of Croatia's diplomatic aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. This fact tells that Croatian public is very divided on this matter,” said Dunovic pointing out that the ruling HDZ “abused” the Parliament to help not the Croats but the HDZ BiH.

The Parliament of Croatia adopted on Friday a declaration on the status of ethnic Croats in Bosnia, which urges Bosnian authorities to amend its Election Law so that the Croats in that country achieve equal rights.

The document which sparked strong reactions among one part of Bosnia's politicians was adopted with 81 votes, while 11 were against it and four abstained from the vote.

This was the latest in the series of discussions on Bosnia's electoral legislation prompted by Croatia's officials, many of which were initiated in the European Union's institutions.

Three former foreign envoys in Bosnia assessed this as Croatia's meddling with Bosnia's internal affairs and urged the EU officials to stop that.

“The intentions of those radical-rightist elements from Croatia will get even more clear to everyone in the European Union, where Croatia's diplomatic aggression experienced a total failure,” said Dunovic.
