Bosnia's trade exchange with China increased by 100 percent, reaching the record amount of €700 million, Foreign Trade Minister Mirko Sarovic said following a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador in Sarajevo on Monday.
Mirko Sarovic and Ji Ping discussed the trade exchange and infrastructural projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina that China financially supports.
“The trade exchange with the People's Republic of China has reached €700 million which is a 100 percent increase compared to the past period and for a small country, that Bosnia and Herzegovina is, this is a significant success,” said Sarovic.
“The two countries signed in the past period important agreements to improve economy, such as the agreement in the sectors of agriculture and veterinary, and for the first time our country was approved the export of food of animal origin to China,” he added.
Relations of Bosnia and China have significantly improved in all sectors and, thanks to a visa-free regime, 100,000 Chinese tourists are expected to visit Bosnia this year, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations after the meeting.
According to Ambassador Ping, his country gives big importance to the relations with Bosnia and many of its citizens and entrepreneurs wish to invest in it, the statement quoted him as saying.
The two officials agreed the successful cooperation should continue and focus on the started energy and infrastructural projects, including the road construction in Bosnia's Republika Srpska entity, the power plant Tuzla construction as well as the cooperation within the global ‘One Band, One road’ and ‘16+1’ projects.
