The US supports Bosnia’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence, and the relationship between the two countries represents a strategic friendship, said a Party for Democratic Action (SDA) press statement on Wednesday after party leader Bakir Izetbegovic met with new US ambassador Eric Nelson.
Nelson and Izetbegovic, whose SDA is the main Bosniak ethnic-oriented party in the country, spoke about Bosnia’s path toward EU and NATO membership, as well as about the implementation of the results of the October 2018 General Election and the SDA’s engagement in the process.
They stressed that the sustainable functionality of democratic institutions in the country is crucial for the principle of Rule of Law.
