Blood will never flow down the Drina river again, and hell will not return to Bosnia, Serbia’s Liberal Democratic Party leader, Cedomir Jovanovic, told N1, commenting on the Chetnik gathering in the eastern Bosnian town of Visegrad, where they sang songs about hell returning to Bosnia and rivers of blood washing down the Drina river.

“No blood will flow down the Drina river. That is just evidence of how weak (Bosnia’s Serb-dominated entity of) Republika Srpska, Serbia, the Serb people and our political elites are. I don’t understand who would like or be proud of what we saw in Visegrad,” Jovanovic said, adding that it reminds him of Nazi gatherings in Auschwitz.

Last Sunday, some 200 fans and followers of the Dragoljub, Draza, Mihajlovic, a World War II nationalist Chetnik leader gathered in Visegrad where they commemorated the day Mihajlovic was caught in 1946 and executed.

They also laid flowers in front of the monument dedicated to fallen Serb soldiers from the 1992-95 Bosnian war.

During WWII, chetniks slaughtered Muslims from eastern Bosnia and threw them into the river Drina.

During the 1992-95 war, Serb nationalists wearing Chetnik insignia expelled 14,000 Muslim residents of Visegrad and killed some 1,700.

Jovanovic also noticed that the Bosnian Serb leader and Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency Chairman, Milorad Dodik, made no statements concerning the event.

“It only speaks of incapability of those in power. He (Dodik) knows what his Constitutional tasks are. He must protect the country and the people in it. The ‘bloody Drina’ is not just a threat to Bosniaks, that river brought misery to Serbs as well,” Jovanovic concluded.

He added that the Serb people suffered greatly because of the ideology of the bloody Drina and that the suffering is felt even today, in Serbia.

“How much has the Serb people suffered here in Bosnia because of this ideology,” Jovanovic asked.
