Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn met with international partners in Washington to engage on a wide range of issues such as the Western Balkans, the European Neighbourhood Policy and ways to tackle global challenges.
On the second day in Washington, while visiting the Atlantic Council, he talked about the Western Balkans strategy.
“Our shared goal on both sides of the Atlantic is to stabilise the region and bring all Western Balkans Six (WB6) countries into the EU. That is in our geopolitical self-interest”, said Hahn.
Hahn pointed out that the EU's credibility is on the line.
“We must be very firm but fair and give credit when & where it’s due. Not sticking to commitments means losing leverage”, he concluded.
