In letters to France's President and Prime Minister, Bosnia's Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik and prime minister Denis Zvizdic express support with the French people regarding the devastating fire of the Notre Dame Cathedral.

“The masterpiece of Gothic architecture is one of the most important symbols of European culture and is a first-class heritage not just of the French people but all those who care about the Christian heritage as the basis of our identity,” Dodik wrote in his telegram.

He proposed that it be reconstructed like the Hilandar Monastery in Greece.

“Like the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral, Hilandar was built for hundreds of years, from the 12th to 14th century, and it went up in flames in just a day. And yet, with great efforts of the entire Serbian people and its friends, the Monastery was reconstructed,” he said.

Bosnia's Prime Minister Denis Zvizdic wrote he watched flames destroy one of the most beautiful architectural monuments of the French Gothic architecture, the 800-year-old Notre Dame Cathedral.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina and its capital Sarajevo, whose many monuments had a similar fate, sympathise with Parisians and the French people. Our thoughts are with you in these difficult moments,” Zvizdic said.
