One of the most renowned Swedish film directors and screenwriters and recipient of the Palme d’Or, Ruben Ostlund, will chair the jury of the Competitive Programme in the Feature Film category at the 25th Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) in August.
“We are excited to have an author as extraordinary as Östlund at our jubilee edition. Ruben Östlund is one of those authors who protect the freedom of creative expression in filmmaking, and we admire his dedication to his artistic work and his unique artistic style”, said the director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, Mirsad Purivatra, according to the SFF website.
Ostlund’s film ‘The Guitar Mongoloid’ won the FIPRESCI Award at the 27th Moscow International Film Festival, his film ‘Incident by a Bank’ won the Golden Bear at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival, while his ‘Force Majeure’ won the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, while his film ‘Play’ won the ‘Coup de Coeur’ Prize.
In 2017, his film ‘The Square’ won the prestigious Palme d'Or at the Cannes Festival.
Ostlund’s films were featured at the SFF before – ‘The Square’ in 2017, ‘Force Majeure’ in 2014 and ‘Play’ in 2011.
The SFF will take place between 16 and 23 August.
