River Jala in Central-Bosnian city of Tuzla has flooded the area near the student dormitory in this city after its level suddenly rose due to constant rain that has been falling since Saturday morning.
The Tuzlanski.ba portal reported that members of the Civil Protection Agency along with members of the Tuzla Police and Firebrigade were at the scene.
The swollen river is threatening to demolish a local bridge standing in its way. The yards of surrounding houses are also flooded. The bridge is currently fenced with yellow tape and is guarded by police officers, the portal said.
According to Tuzlanski.ba, local authorities recorded increased precipitation during Friday night, but also on the first day of the weekend was recorded in Dobosnica, Krtovi, Lukavac Mjesto, all near Tuzla.
Anadolu news agency reports that rivers around the Central-Bosnian town of Zenica were also on the rise. The local authorities told Anadolu that rivers are swelling, on average, by about one to two centimetres per hour, but that the situation is still far from critical.
