The Chairman of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency informed the outgoing German Ambassador that he will not meet with her before she leaves the country as she “worked on damaging the Serb people” during her mandate.

“As the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina throughout more than three years you have worked toward the detriment of the Serb people and Republika Srpska (the Serb-majority part of the country), and with that (you worked) against Bosnia and its constitutional framework,” Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik wrote in the letter to Christiane Hohmann.

He said that it would have been expected that Hohmann, as a representative of a country which carries “a grave historical weight” in this region, shows more consideration and diplomatic sensibility in her work.

“However, Your public statements and diplomatic activities during your stay in Sarajevo were politically biased, subjective and diplomatically inappropriate, which is something I will inform the top representatives of the Federal Republic of Germany about,” he wrote.

He also emphasized that he appreciates Germany’s efforts to help the process of reconciliation and building lasting peace in the Balkan region, but that, “regrettably” he concluded that “she was not an adequate representative for such a Germany.”
