The main Bosniak party in the country said on Thursday that the letter the Chairman of the tripartite Presidency sent to the outgoing German ambassador and his refusal to meet with her is “scandalous and shameful”.
Bosnian Serb Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik on Wednesday accused the outgoing German Ambassador in the country, Christiane Hohmann, of working “on damaging the Serb people” throughout her mandate in Bosnia.

“As the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina throughout more than three years you have worked toward the detriment of the Serb people and Republika Srpska (the Serb-majority part of the country), and with that (you worked) against Bosnia and its constitutional framework,” Dodik wrote, as he informed Hohmann that he will not meet with her before she leaves the country.
The Party for Democratic Action (SDA) condemned the letter.
“The move by the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, toward the Ambassador of Germany, Christiane Hohmann, is scandalous and shameful, and it does not represent the stance of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina toward Germany which is a friendly country,” the SDA statement said.
As the Presidency Chairman, Dodik has the obligation to represent all of the country’s citizens and “does not have the right to abuse his office because of his personal frustrations” and with that to “damage the position and reputation of the country.”
“Ambassador Hohmann has in no way shown disrespect toward Bosnia and Herzegovina, nor toward any of its peoples and the Bosnian Presidency Chairman is obliged to meet with her in accordance with the responsibilities of the position he is serving and in the spirit of good relations between Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the party concluded.
