Bosnia's senior officials discuss situation in the country with OSCE's Lajcak

The OSCE's official expressed interest in Bosnia's progress towards the Euro-Atlantic integration both as current Slovakia's Foreign Minister and former international administrator in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Commenting on some of the main issues in the country, he emphasised the problem of divided students in Bosnia's schools on the grounds of their ethnic affiliation, so-called 'two schools under one roof', assessing this practice as “disgraceful.”

The Presidency members said they were informed about the demands of students and their teachers to get out of this discriminatory situation, expressing hope that the OSCE would be playing a more pivotal role in solving this issue as well as other issues that result in segregation and inequality.

Lajcak, who is paying an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, also met with the State Parliament's leadership.

Dragan Covic, House of Peoples Deputy Speaker, informed the OSCE's official about ongoing attempts to form the government, eight months after the general election took place. Covic also touched upon the importance to amend electoral legislation in order to protect and ensure integrity, constitutionality and democracy of the electoral process.

The government formation issue was also discussed in Lajcak's meeting with Bakir Izetbegovic, the House of Peoples Speaker. The officials agreed it was necessary to remove the obstacles and form the authorities, in order to start intensive work on the reforms that are essential for Bosnia's Euro-Atlantic integration.
