Tickets for the newly opened ‘Walter defends Sarajevo’ museum, dedicated to the classic film which amassed a cult following globally since 1972, will be cheaper during the first three days of the Sarajevo Film Festival which begins on August 16.
The film Walter Defends Sarajevo is based on the life of one of the organisers of the underground resistance against the Nazi occupiers during WWII, Walter Peric.

The museum, opened in April, contains wax figures of film director Hajrudin Krvavac and characters from the film – Walter (Velimir Bata Zivojinovic), Zis (Ljubisa Samardzic), Sead Kapetanovic (Rade Markovic), the ‘fake Walter’ (Dragomir Bojanic Gidra), and German officer Von Dietrich (Hannjo Hasse).
Visitors can also see a replica of the underground bunker where top Nazi officials met and announced operation ‘Laufer’ at the beginning of the movie, as well as German WWII uniforms and even some original pieces from the set.
Instead of the usual 10 Bosnian Marks, the price for tickets will be cut by half between August 16 and 18.
The Film Centre Sarajevo will also air 10 classics of Bosnian films in the museum during the event.
During the Sarajevo Film Festival, between August 16 and 23, the museum will be open from 9 am to 9 pm.
