The Dayton Peace Agreement is an international legal agreement which must not be violated and whoever tries to violate it, must count on the negative consequences which will follow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic during the Wednesday meeting at the UN General Assembly.

According to Vucic, they had a “very good, honest and friendly conversation,” and that they also talked about Bosnia and Herzegovina. Vucic told Lavrov that it is important for Serbia that, the Dayton Peace Agreement which ended the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia, is respected.

Speaking to the press in New York, Vucic said Lavrov told him that “(Russian President Vladimir) Putin's message was that Russia will stand with Serbia,” when it comes to the solution of the Kosovo problem.

He concluded that it is important for Serbia to have a reliable partner and an ally in Russia on all important issues for Serbia.
