Sweden is the biggest individual donor to Bosnia and Herzegovina and is behind numerous development projects in our country, Bosnia’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Mirko Sarovic, and Sweden's newly appointed Ambassador to the country, Johanna Stromquist, emphasised at a meeting on Tuesday.
The two discussed the implementation of ongoing development programs which are primarily focused on projects in the agriculture sector and the economy, development of small and medium enterprises and environmental protection.
They discussed, among other things, the implementation of the project ‘Green Economic Development’, aimed at improving energy management in public buildings, which is especially important considering that more than 75 percent of public buildings in Bosnia have inadequate thermal insulation.
The importance of the project is also reflected in solutions for various environmental issues associated with increased energy consumption, such as air and water pollution and climate change.
Minister Sarovic thanked the Swedish Ambassador for the continued assistance Sweden provides to Bosnia and for its strong support for the country’s path toward EU membership.
