Some 15 teams from the Federation (FBiH) entity's Civil Protection Agency (FUCZ) are standing-by to help Albania, which suffered a devastating earthquake that left at least 27 dead and hundreds injured, head of FBiH Civil Protection Agency Fahrudin Solak told N1, on Wednesday.
“Some 15 FUCZ teams are on stand-by and we're just waiting for any kind of information from Albania. We can't say why we received no answer from them, yet, but we can be there in some six to eight hours. We're waiting for their response,” Solak said.
Speaking about ways in which they can help in Albania, Solak said that this is a fight with time and that it is important to know where the missing people are. It's important to relocate those people as soon as possible so they can return to normal lives,” he said.
Asked to comment to the most recent 5.3 magnitude earthquake that took place near Durres, Solak said that such earthquakes are extremely dangerous for an already devastated area.
“For the rescue team to see the extent of the damage, they must get into the rubble itself. We see that these earthquakes are taking place non-stop and it's certainly very dangerous,” Solak concluded.
