The two Nigerian students who said Croatian police expelled them to Bosnia thinking they were migrants, Abia Uchenna Alexandro and Eboh Kenneth Chinedu, will be returned to their home country, Security Minister Dragan Mektic said on Wednesday.
“They agreed to enter the so-called ACR (Assisted Voluntary Return) Programme and we can, with their consent, send them to their country of origin without exposing them to any additional procedures,” Mektic explained.
He said that the readmission procedure according to which they would be returned to Croatia was not used.
“They expressed a lot of fear of returning to Croatia, saying they could experience more abuse there and that they fear for their lives,” Mektic said.
