Bosnia’s peoples who already live in peace will hopefully advance on the path of reconciliation and forgiveness, Vatican’s diplomatic representative in Bosnia and Montenegro Luigi Pezzuto said addressing a traditional Sunday meeting of Bosnia’s independent intellectuals ‘Krug 99’ in Sarajevo.
Speaking in the meeting that discussed ‘Peace as a path of hope: dialogue and reconciliation’, the Apostolic Nuncio said “a true, final and permanent peace” can be achieved through “reconciliation and forgiveness.”
“So, we want to believe that constituent peoples who already live in peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where a peace process is ongoing since the end of the 1990s, will be able to advance on the path of reconciliation and forgiveness, and contribute to its permanent achievement,” he said.
In connection with that, Pezzuto recalled of the Pope Francis message conveyed on the 53rd World Peace Day, which the Catholic Church marks on January 1, in which the Church leader warned of fundamental causes of every war – intolerance towards the different. “Therefore it has to be eliminated and removed. That kind of logic, which is negative itself, unfortunately, leads to war,” said Pezzuto.
As a path to peace, the Pope suggests dialogue and mutual understanding, which cherish the trust and recognition of the different, he added.
The intellectuals agreed they fully support political, ethical and other stances contained in the Pope’s message from January 1.
