The migrant crisis as a global phenomenon is not just a humanitarian but also a security concern, Bosnia's Security Minister Fahrudin Radoncic said after a meeting with Montenegrin Interior Minister Mevludin Nuhodzic on Friday, in Montenegro.

“The migrant crisis is a global and European issue. It is a migration of people from one continent to another and our region currently faces a great challenge. We must help each other and make a joint strategy which would combine a humanitarian as well as a security aspect in order to prevent and treat security challenges,” Radoncic said adding that in that sense, Bosnia is changing the perception of the crisis from an exclusively humanitarian to a security issue for Bosnia and the region.”

Bosnia's Security Minister praised the cooperation between the two ministries and police agencies, noting that Bosnia will use Montenegro's experiences in its EU accession path, adding that the two countries have no alternative to EU accession.

Nuhodzic pointed out that the two ministries will continue to work on al issues of mutual interest and improve the cooperation between the two countries. He said that Bosnia and Montenegro must work together on reaching common European goals.

“We agreed that we have continuous and good cooperation between our police agencies in the fight against organised crime, drug trafficking and all other forms of crime and we're getting positive results from this cooperation,” Montenegrin Interior Minister said.

Radoncic will return to Bosnia onboard Montenegro's police helicopter, on Friday afternoon.
