Update: Another COVID-19 case in Bosnia, 64 in total

20:16 PM local time: The town of Gorazde has seen its first confirmed COVID-19 case, bringing the total number of people who caught the virus in Bosnia to 64.

17:24 PM local time: The Minister of Health in Bosnia’s Serb-majority region has confirmed that 16 more people tested positive for COVID-19.

Most of the new patients are from the city of Banja Luka, he said, adding that three of them had contact with people from other European countries.

He said that two of the new patients are in isolation at the Republika Srpska University Clinical Centre and another two are in hospitals in Prijedor and Bijeljina.

One patient had travelled to Belgrade recently while another worked at a Bosnian airport, he said, urging people working at any kind of border crossing to take the necessary precautions during the pandemic.

Another patient, who came from Austria recently, was in contact with four persons who had contracted the disease there, Seranic said.

Bosnia has earlier this week declared a state of disaster and all levels of government introduced special measures to prevent a major outbreak of the virus.
