A plane carrying 137 nationals of Sweden, Norway and Denmark departed on Sunday from the Sarajevo International Airport and is expected to return from Stockholm later the same day with 56 nationals of Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

“In a very complex situation, when all European airports are closed for passenger traffic, the Crisis Response Team of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, planned the departure of FlyBosnia plane with 137 foreign nationals (the citizens of Sweden, Norway and Denmark) from Sarajevo to Stockholm, in cooperation with the Embassy of Sweden in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sweden,” said the ministry’s statement.

“Repatriation of 56 citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected on the return flight to Sarajevo,” the statement said.

Acting upon a request of Sweden’s Embassy in Sarajevo, the ministry collected the necessary consent and permission for FlyBosnia’s flight both in Bosnia and Sweden.

Sarajevo airport was indefinitely closed for passenger traffic on March 30, following the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
