There are no known coronavirus cases among Bosnia’s Roma population bit if the virus would start spreading among them, it would be devastating considering the conditions most of them live in, Roma activist Dervo Sejdic told N1 on Wednesday.
“I have no information on any Roma being infected with the coronavirus, but God forbid that one of them catches it as it would affect the entire Roma community in Bosnia,” Sejdic said.
He explained that more than 95 percent of the Roma in the country live in poverty.
“The situation regarding hygiene among the Roma population must also be taken into account as they do not have access to electricity, water or other essentials. Twelve Roma neighbourhood across Bosnia and Herzegovina have no access to drinking water,” he said.
