A 57-year-old doctor from a Mostar hospital is the first COVID-19 fatality among healthcare workers in Herzegovina, Bosnia's southern region, and health authorities said on Sunday the epidemiological situation in the country's Federation (FBiH) entity was satisfactory due to a mild rise in the number of new patients.

Herzegovina is among the hardest-hit parts of Bosnia with over 330 COVID-19 patients. Sixteen persons have died, mainly elderly with underlying conditions.

The FBiH authorities said the epidemiological situation was under control and that this was the result of joint efforts by healthcare workers and the entity population's compliance with the restrictions.

Over the past 24 hours, 603 samples have been tested in the entity, seven of which are positive.

At state level, 1,285 COVID-19 patients have been confirmed as well as 49 deaths.
