The SANDOZ pharmaceutical company will donate 22,800 Hydroxychloroquine Sulphate pills, currently considered one of the most effective cures for Covid-19, to Bosnia and Herzegovina after it signed a contract with Bosnia’s Civil Affairs Ministry on Thursday.

All the necessary approvals for the pills to be imported and used in the country have been secured before the contract was signed.

The health ministries of both of Bosnia’s semi-autonomous entities, the Federation (FBiH) and Republika Srpska (RS), as well as health authorities in Bosnia’s Brcko District, expressed a need to acquire the medicine.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has expressed the need for Hydroxychloroquine, as well as Remdesivir, Kaletra and Interferon, to the European Commission in light of its participation in a joint EU agreement on the procurement of medicinal products.

The Civil Affairs Ministry will in the coming period also be initiating procedures to reach agreements with the companies SANOFI and ZADA to acquire Hydroxychloroquine.
