Head of EU delegation to Bosnia Johann Sattler handed over €800,000 worth of personal protective equipment but also ventilators and x-ray machines to Bosnian authorities, on Friday, saying the equipment is fully funded by the EU and that the entire donation is worth €7 million.

“I am happy to have fulfilled my promise. You have already seen the €300 million aid package delivered to Bosnia. Of that amount, €7 million were directly used for the purchase of medicines for medical equipment, and today we're delivering a batch worth over €800,000,” Sattler said.

For the most part, he said, these are PPEs, “but I can also point out that there is some high-tech equipment in there. There are ventilators which can be used for anaesthesia purposes, then there are ECG devices and in short, these are all devices that will be used for health care purposes even after the end of the pandemic,” Sattler said.

He also pointed out that the EU prepared a €28 million investment for Bosnia's health sector.

The delivery was attended by the country's Security Minister Fahrudin Radoncic.

“We have quality machines and educated people, a service and a two-year warranty for those machines. We belong to the family of European nations and what the EU has done in the months of the pandemic really shows how much we are worth and how great we are in the eyes of the EU. This is an opportunity for some of our local politicians or staffs to learn what transparency is in the work they do, what transparency is in the money entrusted to them, how high-quality equipment can be obtained with the help of experts and how this equipment becomes a permanent category in terms of its use even after the pandemic,” Fahrudin Radoncic said.
