US extradites a war crime suspect to Bosnia

The US authorities extradited a national of Bosnia and Herzegovina accused of war crimes in the eastern part of the country during the 1992-95 Bosnian war, learns N1.

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment against Adem Kostjerovac, born in 1961, on April 14, 2015, charging him with war crime against civilians as a member of what was then called the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the indictment, Kostjerovac breached the International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War during the 1992-95 conflict in Bosnia.

The indictment charges him among other things with sexual violence against a Serb civilian woman, during September and October 1992 in the area of the eastern town Zvornik.
