Bosnia records 316 new Covid-19 cases in highest single-day spike

Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed another 316 coronavirus infections, the highest single-day spike since the epidemic outbreak, also with a record number of lab tests performed in 24 hours – nearly 2,000, the healthcare authorities confirmed on Friday.

According to the Civil Affairs Ministry, the country's coronavirus total now stands at 6,402, with 3,320 cases confirmed in the Federation (FBiH) and 3,032 in Republika Srpska (RS), the country's two semi-autonomous regions.

Brcko District, a separate administrative unit in the north, has reported 50 Covid-19 patients to date, of which 20 have recovered, and five deaths.

With two more fatalities confirmed in the last 24 hours, one in each region, Bosnia's death toll stands at 216.

The Federation (FBiH) has to date performed 65,694 coronavirus tests, 1,199 in the last 24 hours with 196 positive outcomes. RS has performed 582 tests since the last update (40,970 in total) with 114 new cases confirmed.

The total of 3,037 patients has recovered to date.
