Bosniak Presidency member Sefik Dzaferovic told N1 Tuesday he does not believe in theories where Russia wants to see the division of Bosnia, adding that he is confident they will respect the Dayton Peace Agreement which ended the 1992-1995 war in the country.
“I don't think Russia wants the disintegration of Bosnia, they've defined their position and it seems to me that (Russian Foreign Minister Sergey) Lavrov's statement also defined it. Russia would like Bosnia to change its orientation when it comes to its NATO path and we can't agree to that. Things are completely clear, there are many other countries that have different views from Russia and they are part of the NATO alliance, and they are cooperating with Russia,” Dzaferovic said.

He reiterated that the NATO accession path was also regulated by laws in the country and that Bosnia was clear about its wish to join the Alliance.
These policies have been long defined, he added.
“Bosnia has its path which was defined by the Dayton Peace Agreement. We've defined our policies and we can't do anything about the fact that some others are changing their policies. NATO has been agreed on. NATO stopped the aggression against Bosnia and we will insist on the implementation of the law in Bosnia,” Dzaferovic noted.
The Bosniak member of the tripartite Presidency concluded that the country preserved its NATO path by sending the Reform Programme to the NATO HQ in Brussels, as requested by the NATO Secretary-General.
