Bosnian local election observers, Pod Lupom Coalition, said on Monday the process showed great democratic maturity especially considering it was held during the pandemic.
“We'd like to point out all the political entities who won but did not gloat or celebrate their victory, breaking epidemiological measures, as well as those who did not win and accepted the defeat. This is a great democratic step forward. We've had a situation where no one questioned the results of the election,” Pod Lupom Coalition said.
According to them, the elections were held in accordance with the law for the most part but there were some repetitive irregularities along the way.
“A combination of various irregularities has been observed at about 4 percent of polling stations. The Coalition will seek an annulment in certain places if serious irregularities are confirmed,” they said at a press conference.
“At least 29 bags were brought open to the premises of the local election commission in the municipality of Novi Grad. There, the election race is still close, with some 300 votes difference. The head of the municipality came to the premises of the local election commission during election night. That is unacceptable,” they said.
The Coalition for Free and Fair Elections ‘Pod Lupom’ was established in May 2014 with the aim of implementing a project of civic, non-partisan observation of the 2014 General Elections. The coalition consists of five NGOs from all over Bosnia.
