Bosnian Prosecutor's Office said Friday they formed a case regarding a 300-year-old gilded icon which Bosnia's Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik gave to Russian Foreign Minister on Monday.
“Bosnian Foreign Minister informed the Prosecutor's Office about the diplomatic note from the Ukrainian Embassy. The Prosecution did not receive the Diplomatic note itself. The case has been formed and the investigation is ongoing,” the Prosecutor's Office said.
BiH faces a new diplomatic scandal following a visit by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov this Monday. The Embassy of Ukraine in Bosnia and Herzegovina sent a diplomatic note to the BiH Foreign Ministry asking for detailed information on the origin of the icon from Luhansk, which BiH Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik presented to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The Embassy of Ukraine considers that present an act of support to the aggressive policy of the Russian Federation.
Speaking to N1, Bosnia's Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic said that they had received a diplomatic note from the Embassy of Ukraine asking for a statement on how the 300-year-old icon was in the possession of a BiH official, more precisely, the Chairman of BiH Presidency, Milorad Dodik.
