Bosnian election watchdog ordered a recount of ballots from 70 polling stations in south Bosnian City of Mostar after the City Election Commission asked them to do so, following the Sunday local election.

“Mostar City Election Commission submitted a requests for the opening of ballot boxes and properly consolidating the determined results,” Central Election Commission said.

“We must ask the City Commission whether the same members from the same polling stations who did not do a good job last time will be re-hired to count the ballots again or will other members be delegated for this? It is very important that the job is transparent and to inform the public be notifies about the opening of ballot oxes and the consolidation of results on time. This should be kept in mind and recorded, and eventually initiate certain proceedings against the administrations in Mostar, because we see that a large number, in fact half of the polling stations need some kind of an intervention,” Central Election Commission member Suad Arnautovic said.

He noted that the state watchdog did everything posible for the elections to be held on an orderly manned , respecting all the necesary standards.

“We even sent several officials some 10 days ago who discovered these issues, successfully. I'm sorry this happened but it's important to determine the results as soon as possible,” Arnautovic said.
