The US president's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, expressed concern about "threats to the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina" coming from the president of the BiH entity Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and stated that the US is ready to introduce additional sanctions to respond to that.
“The U.S. is concerned by the increased threats to Bosnia & Herzegovina’s territorial integrity from Republika Srpska President Dodik. We will continue to respond to secessionist actions & attacks on the Dayton Peace Agreement, including through the use of additional sanctions,” Sullivan wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
“We support the High Representative & the use of his authorities, when necessary, to defend the DPA. We will continue to stand with the citizens of BiH & their goal of achieving a democratic & prosperous BiH integrated into the Euro-Atlantic community,” he added.
Dodik announced on Friday that the document on “peaceful disassociation” has been completed and it will be offered to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) entity in the coming weeks.
