After more than 30 years, the midnight Easter liturgy was served in the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity in Mostar.

The liturgy was served by Mostar priests of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Dusko Kojic and Marko Gojacic, and the pre-war Mostar parish priest Aleksa Zubac, who served in Mostar from 1975 to 1992.

In his sermon, the elder of the cathedral church, Dusko Kojic, told the faithful to find the resurrected Christ in the depths of their hearts, to meet him, to rejoice in him and to embrace each other and the whole world as such.

“The Feast of the Resurrection is coming and we Mostar residents are waiting to celebrate Easter in the Cathedral. He is not done yet, he is still waiting for his resurrection, he has suffered and will see the resurrection, and that is why we have decided to spread the message of the resurrection this year in the still unfinished temple,” Kojic said.

The Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity was the largest Orthodox church in the Balkans until the war, and it was razed to the ground at the beginning of the war in 1992.

The renovation began in 2010. So far, the exterior construction works have been completed, and the interior decoration of the church will follow.
