Her professional and life motto, written in Bosnia and Herzegovina 30 years ago, is: "Truthful, not neutral." She calls Bosnia and Herzegovina her home and the place that shaped her into who she is today. Because of Srebrenica and the events related to the genocide, she still speaks of those days with tears in her eyes.
In the years following Srebrenica and the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christiane Amanpour visited numerous sites of suffering and met many victims. Then, as now, she calls on world leaders to take responsibility for their actions.
In an exclusive interview for N1 marking the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, she stated that no world leader was willing to prevent Srebrenica or take action until it had already happened.
