Speaking about the announcements of Republika Srpska (RS) entity President Milorad Dodik that US policy towards Bosnia will change if Donald Trump becomes President once again, US Ambassador Michael Murphy said that the US sees no interest in changing its policy ow redrawing borders in the Balkans.
“Dodik says many things that are not based on real facts. The US policy has been the same for the past 30 years as it is today, which is the support for territorial integrity, sovereignty and multi-ethnic character of BiH and Bosnia’s integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions. This is the policy that I implement on behalf of the President of the USA, this is the policy that all my predecessors implemented and I expect that whoever comes after me will implement it. That policy has always had strong bipartisan support in the US. This is the policy of this administration, as well as the previous administration led by Trump,” Michael Murphy told N1.
He was then reminded that many hope that the story of Greater Serbia will return under Trump, to which he said:
“The US has no interest in redrawing the borders in the Western Balkans. It wasn't in our interest, it's not in our interest now, and we won't have such interest for reasons you can imagine.”
