Several hundred runners took part in Sarajevo's only marathon race 'Two cities marathon' on Sunday, with Amela Trozic and Emir Hastor becoming new national champions in this discipline.

Trozic finished second in 3 hours 14 minutes and 12 seconds but had the best time among Bosnian female competitors. Serbia's Katarina Pahlod won with 3:13:32 timing.

Hastor was the best in the men's category and finished the race in 2 hours 33 minutes and 44 seconds, followed by Davor Vidovic (2:43:08).

‘Two cities marathon’ is the first official marathon race in the Bosnian capital and this year's Bosnian marathon championship. Its course stretches through the cities of Sarajevo and Istocno Sarajevo with the start and finish lines in front of Sarajevo City Hall.

In honour of its first winner from 2020 Osman Junuzovic, who passed away in December 2020, the organisers also held a memorial 5,000 m race named after the last year's winner.
