"The actions of Milorad Dodik, the President of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, pose a threat to the stability, constitutional order, and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina," the Embassy stated.
The statement further noted that Austria, in close coordination with its European partners, has taken decisive measures against political actors in Republika Srpska.
"We confirm that bilateral measures are in effect, including a ban on entry into Austria, as well as transit through Austria, for President Milorad Dodik, Speaker of the Republika Srpska National Assembly Nenad Stevandic, and RS Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic," the statement elaborated.
The Embassy emphasised that these measures aim to send a clear political signal and provide support to pro-European forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"The intention is to send a political signal and provide reassurance to all pro-European forces that we will continue to actively support them in their efforts to achieve Bosnia and Herzegovina's membership in the European Union."
In conclusion, the Embassy's message is particularly directed towards the citizens of Republika Srpska.
"This is particularly relevant for the citizens of the Republika Srpska Entity, as a few politicians cannot prevent their path towards a European future," the Austrian Embassy's statement concluded.
