Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency member Denis Becirovic met in London with UK Minister for Europe Stephen Doughty, joined by fellow Presidency member Zeljko Komsic. Becirovic outlined serious security threats facing BiH, attributing them to the leadership of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, which he accused of undermining state institutions, rejecting Constitutional Court rulings, and promoting secessionist rhetoric.
He warned that these actions represent the gravest attack yet on the country’s constitutional order and the Dayton Peace Agreement, posing a direct threat to peace and regional stability. He stressed the need for strong support for an independent judiciary and deeper BiH–UK cooperation, especially in security, defence, and the economy.
Becirovic also thanked Doughty for supporting the "Remembering Srebrenica UK" commemoration held in London.
Minister Doughty reiterated the UK's commitment to BiH’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democratic development. He emphasised the importance of strengthening institutions, upholding the rule of law, and advancing EU integration. Doughty also noted the UK’s role as host of the upcoming Berlin Process Summit, aimed at boosting regional cooperation and stability.
This marks the second meeting between Becirovic and Doughty in the past year.
