The Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Serbia (YIHR) is organizing a solidarity walk on Saturday, February 28, starting at 12 pm, dedicated to those killed and injured in the recent traffic accident in Sarajevo, as well as all victims of infrastructural negligence across the region.

The organization recalls that on February 12, a young student lost his life and several others were injured when a tram derailed in Sarajevo.

"This tragedy is not merely the result of a technical failure, but a consequence of years of neglecting public safety, a lack of accountability, and systemic disregard for human lives. Citizens of Sarajevo have taken to the streets to protest, demanding a transparent investigation and a clear determination of responsibility for the competent institutions. We believe that solidarity among cities and societies in the region is not just an act of compassion, but an expression of a shared struggle for safety, responsibility, and the dignity of every human life," the organization stated.

The gathering will begin at Studentski trg at 12 pm, where young activists will address the attendees. This will be followed by a peaceful walk through Francuska Street to the Sebilj Fountain near Skadarska Street.

"The Sebilj Fountain, a gift from Sarajevo to Belgrade in 1989, is a symbol of the connection between our cities. At that very spot, we want to send a message that while tragedies know no borders, solidarity must not have borders either. We invite you to join us and bring white roses and messages of solidarity, which we will leave at the fountain as a sign of remembrance and a shared determination to demand accountability," stated the Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Serbia.
