The State-owned public company, BH Telecom, reacted to the information regarding the termination of the contract with the United Media company on August 31 and the dropping of N1 and Sport Klub channels from their cable TV platform “Moja TV” stating that, given the public's interest in watching the European Basketball Championship matches, a contract extension will be offered to United Media for a period of one month.
BH Telecom issued a statement stating that the offer they received from United Media is not proportionately equal to the value of the media rights of the offered TV channels.
“Prior to the expiration of the contract for the acquisition of media rights for the distribution of the Sport Klub channel, regardless of previous events, BH Telecom opened the negotiations with the readiness to continue the cooperation with adjusted conditions, precisely with the aim of providing the rest of the sports content to its users. However, Sport Klub submitted an offer that is not proportionally equal to the value of the media rights of the offered TV channels, i.e. with a price that is not reduced proportionally to the loss of the value of the media rights.
Given that, with the aim of providing the highest quality content, BH Telecom will continue to invest significant funds in the purchase of media rights from suppliers who are the new owners, BH Telecom considers it unacceptable to conclude a new contract at prices that do not correspond to the value of the content offered. Bearing in mind that during the negotiations, Sport Klub did not express the willingness to agree on the sales price in accordance with real market trends, these TV channels will be excluded from the Moja TV platform from September 1,” BH Telecom stated.
The statement added that considering the public's interest in watching the European Basketball Championship matches, Sport Klub will be offered an extension of the current contract for a period of one month, according to the terms of the last offer submitted by the United Media company.
In just two days, hundreds of thousands of viewers who watched the N1 and Sport Klub program over the past years via BH Telecom's “Moja TV” platform, could be without the opportunity to watch the recognizable content of the informative television N1 and the national male basketball team at the European Championship which starts on September 1, but also the female basketball team at the World Championship, which starts on September 22, N1 learns.
