Sarajevo Canton’s police apprehended Senaid Memic, the current BiH Ambassador to Malaysia, on charges of abuse of office or authority, the Sarajevo Canton’s Prosecution said.
After the criminal investigation, the suspect will be handed over to the jurisdiction of the Cantonal Prosecution of the Sarajevo Canton.
Memic served as Head of Ilidza Municipality before becoming the ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Malaysia.
Yesterday, the head of the Sarajevo’ Stari Grad Municipality, Ibrahim Hadzibajric was also apprehended and handed over to the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office along with Alma Destanovic, the secretary of the Municipality.
They are charged with organized crime, abuse of position or authority, money laundering, and bribery.
The Prosecution suspects that Ibrahim Hadzibajric and one Elmedin Karisik organized and managed a criminal group whose members were Alma Destanovic, Seid Hadzibajric (Igrahim Hadzibajric’s son) and other persons from 2019 to May 2023.
Certain group members communicated with each other via the SKY messaging application, in order to cover their tracks and ultimately arrange the commission of criminal acts.
Thus, they are accused of illegally leasing parking spaces in the area of the Stari Grad Municipality for at least three companies over which they had control and illegally earned hundreds of thousands of Bosnian marks.
Hadzibajric is additionally charged with the illegal allocation of real estate to a person from the Stari Grad area, from whom he allegedly received a bribe in the amount of 150,000 marks (some €75,000).
